Celebrity Style: Olivia Palermo

Olivia Palermo is considered one of New York's elite, and known for her sense of style. I'm always amazed at how she can pull together great hijabi-friendly outfits, minus the hijab, and be considered fabulous by fashion blogs and magazines everywhere. Yet, if she added that piece of fabric to cover her hair, it would be a completely different story.

Before I decided to start wearing hijab, I found myself looking at celebrities and wondering what would happen and how would people treat them if they just covered their hair. Does that piece of fabric covering your hair make that big of a difference? The truth is, it does. It has great symbolism behind it. It means modesty. It means humility. It means submission to God.

We're not perfect, but we try our hardest. Deciding to start wearing that scarf means you are telling the world you are Muslim. No matter which way it's worn, people see you and know who you are and what you believe in. At times, it can be difficult, however it is an honor and always a blessing.

The greater the sacrifice, the greater the reward and in the end may Allah (SWT) reward us for all our efforts.
