My Top Ten Summer Vacation Must-Haves

The following are my top 10 items to pack on a summer-trip. A lot of the items I've chosen are versatile and basic that can be worn with just about anything. The whole idea when packing is to have pieces that will mix-and-match well and provide you with a maximum number of outfits.

1. Denim Jacket- It matches everything! No Joke! You can pair it with a skirt, linen pants, white pants, maxi dresses... the list goes on and on.
2. Blazer- A blazer is a great option that can go from day-to-night. If you're out all day, a blazer is a good choice that will transition well into night for occasions that are bit more dressy.

Fashion for Compassion: Fashion Show

This weekend, I went to a charity fashion show for Texas Muslim Women's Foundation. The organizers of the event were two local young women,  Ndaa Hassan, CEO & Designer of Écharpe à la Mode, and Zeena Alkurdi, CEO & Designer of Pearl Boutique. They did an amazing job bringing together our community and fellow Muslim designers in a fabulous way for a great cause.
I apologize in advance for the pictures. We were sitting on the side, so the angle isn't the best. Enjoy!

Celebrity Style: Olivia Palermo

Olivia Palermo is considered one of New York's elite, and known for her sense of style. I'm always amazed at how she can pull together great hijabi-friendly outfits, minus the hijab, and be considered fabulous by fashion blogs and magazines everywhere. Yet, if she added that piece of fabric to cover her hair, it would be a completely different story.

1 outfit, 4 looks

1 outfit 4 looks

It was hard to stick with just four looks. There is so much you can do. Both, the skirt and top are considered neutral, so pretty much match anything!

Nautical Adventure: Obsessed with the Sea

I really love this look. It's inspired by my childhood when we would go on vacations to the beach or a day out on the lake. I loved being out on the water. Brings me back to a very happy place.

It's all about the accessories...

Any outfit can be pulled together with some accessories. Whether it be a ring, necklace, bangles, hat, belt, or anything your heart desires. Just throw it on with your go-to outfit and you're set. Accessories have a huge impact on a look. They can bring a rather plain outfit to life. Show your sense of style and have fun!

Macy's Targeting Muslim Customers

I was at Macy's this weekend and walked passed the accessories section without thinking twice. Then, my husband pointed out the how they were displaying the scarves. I've seen stores display them as bandannas, but this is the first time I've seen them wrapped covering the neck like this! I couldn't believe it!

Summer's just around the corner...

...which means new section for hijabis to shop in. The swimsuit isle. Swimsuit cover-ups people! They're lightweight and perfect for the summer height.

Love the embellishment around the neckline

Victoria's Secret

Pairings: Neon

One of my favorite trends this season is color, to be more specific, neons! They can be really fun to play with. You don't have to go out and spend a lot of money to follow the trend. All you need is some basic accessories. For example, I've been pairing a scarf and a matching belt with many different outfits. I find that it really brings an outfit to life and makes it look trendy.

STRIPES

As much as you try to ignore them, you just can't! Stripes are everywhere. Some are more slimming than others...
And this dress is definitely on the more slimming side. The stripes are at an angle, giving you a thinner effect. I really love the two different shades of blue. Paired with a denim jacket, it's a perfect look a fun day out!

Celebrity looks... almost complete: maxi skirt

Every now and then I see celebrities wearing outfits that are so hijab friendly, they only really need a jacket, or a simple swap, or even just the hijab! I thought it would be fun to complete their looks.

Instead of the sleeveless blouse, lets swap it with a long sleeve one and add a nice feminine hijab to complete the look...
